It's hard to believe it's almost March!

We have spent the last few weeks working hard on tapping out words with blends.  Some example of blends are fr-, st-, bl-, -sk, -nd and -mp.
Today we tried something new for our Fundations unit check-in.  The students typed their words into a Google Form.  Their answers are complied into a Google Sheet for me and I can easily see who needs extra practice on beginning or ending blends, vowels, or suffix -s.

 We made it through our first full week of school in a while!  Have a nice weekend! :-) 

Thursday, 2/27

During Social Studies, we have been watching parts of a video called People and Places. Today we focused on the people that live near the Nile River.  Ask your child to tell you one of the reasons why people in that area. 

The kids sure do make themselves comfy :-) 

Wednesday 2/25

We are getting so close to 100 acts of kindness!! These boys all received a heart today for showing respect.  During our morning announcements today Mrs. Donato reminded the kids to show respect around Thompson.  Way to go! Thompson CARES!

Word Time: practicing to write words with blends and glued sounds 

This was pretty tricky, but the kids stuck with it!  They loved that all of the words had to do with winter or my crazy drive to school. 

They were super proud of their work and wanted me to take many pictures throughout :-)

Happy 100th day of first grade!

We had a lot of fun thinking about the number 100... What would we want 100 of in our cubby?  What could we eat 100 of?  What are we fortunate to not have 100 of?

Ask your child what their 1, 0 and 0 turned into!!

Actors needed for the Thompson play!

What a great opportunity for our first graders to be involved in a Thompson tradition!  My past students have loved being in the play.  A few friends from our class this year have signed up already :-)
