Clay Spirit Animal Workshop

The Zuni and other Pueblo Indians carve animals small enough to fit into their pockets. They believe these connect the humans who carry them to the spirit of the animals they represent. After an introductory discussion and brief demonstration, participants sculpt their own spirit animals which they can paint when dry and decorate with a "bundle" using small shells, feathers beads, etc.  In a closing circle, participants can share their animals and what they learned about them as they sculpted. Suitable for youth ages 7-12. Space is limited. please arrive 30 minutes early to secure a ticket.
